Gerald Phillip Kozal

Gerald Phillip Kozal, age 80, of Wyoming, closed his eyes and woke up in Heaven on Thursday, March 14, 2019.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Chloe Kozal; children, Teresa and Jack Bonham, Mike and Deb Kozal, Chip Kozal, Katy Johnson-Kozal, Andrew and Connie Kozal; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.  God gave Jer children to love and grandchildren to love him back and the greats were his reward.  He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Tyron; many cousins, nieces and nephews, and many special friends and neighbors.  Jer proudly retired from GM after 36 years and loved spending time with fellow GM retirees.  He also enjoyed coaching youth sports in Wyoming, fishing,  and his special trips to “the corner”. Jer was the number one super fan of the grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 11:00 a.m at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Drive SW, Grandville, with Deacon Jeff Burns presiding.  Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10-10:50 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A Rosary Service will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.

Dear Kozal Family, I'm so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I remember his happy personality from when we were neighbors on Flamingo......I have some old pictures of him in his Santa suit with my daughter Karla on his lap. Sending you much love. Marian

Big Jer was such a special person to my family. He attended every football game for Jason and Kyle. We had such a bond just spending those times together. He will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Jerry you are forever in our hearts.
