Eugene R. Schutter

Eugene R. Schutter, age 86, of Jenison, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Gene will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Joy; children, Mark and Tabby Schutter, Mitchell and Denise Schutter, Marcie and Cary McMann; stepdaughter, Gayle Corey; stepson, Jason Smith; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three brothers; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Gene worked for the CSX Railroad for 40 years. He also proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. A memorial service honoring Gene’s life will be held at a later date.

My thoughts and prayers are with you always Joy and all of Gene‘s family. I got to know Gene when I started working at American House in August 2017, and he quickly became one of my favorite faces to see when I helped him get ready each morning! I live his smile and his silly personality, and I was so grateful to have been able to know him and work for him for over a year!
