Donna Jean Hagen, age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2019. She is now rejoicing in heaven, and has joined her loved ones who have gone on before her.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her twin infant daughters, Carol and Cheryl; parents, Edgar and Mabel Moran; sons-in-law, Duane Blackport and Bob Freiburger. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Deb (Blackport) and Gord Oeverman, Gary Hagen, Marsha Freiburger, Craig Hagen, Lisa and Brian Potter, Jan and Ed Thayer; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; extended family and friends. After raising her children, Donna returned to the work force and retired from St. Mary’s Hospital where she worked in the insurance claims office. Donna’s family was her first priority.  When her children were younger her home was the place to be where everyone was welcome and she provided a safe and secure area for her children and their friends. She was involved in many guilds, a den mother, teaching catechism, and other activities involving her children. She enjoyed big band music and game night with her family. She loved a good glass of chardonnay, chocolate, and listening to Frank Sinatra. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood) 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service.  A Memorial Mass and celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice or the American Heart Association.

I just learned of Donna's passing. I tried calling Marsha but unable to make contact but left a voicemail. Donna was my cousin of which I have very found memories of growing up in Peoria, Il. We mainly saw each other on Xmas holidays along with her mother and father. Donna had a nice relationship with my mother and went shopping with her and she usually called when she visited Peoria. The last time I saw Donna was at her mothers funeral August 25, 2006. May she rest in Peace and tranquility. Just wished someone would have notified me.

Marsha I just read the prayer chain and saw about your mom. I was actually at mass this morning and saw you but didn’t get a chance to come greet you. I am very sad to hear about your mom’s death but glad you could get home to say good by. Please give Craig my best too. Leslee
