Coralea Ruth Spooner

Mrs. Coralea Ruth Spooner, age 86, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.   Mrs. Spooner was born in Windsor, Co.  She graduated high school in Windsor and attended Milwaukee Bible Institute.  On October 3, 1954, she married Air Force Second Lieutenant Arthur Leroy Spooner. Over the next twenty-one years, they traveled all over and lived in Japan, California, Texas, Kansas, Illinois, Colorado, New York, Alaska and Washington.  Retirement from the Air Force took them to Alaska and she eventually settled in Grand Rapids, MI.  For several years she lived in the Republic of Zaire, Africa as a missionary teacher.  Throughout her lifetime, she served the Lord in many different ministries with determination and enthusiasm.  She adored working with children and taught Awana and Sunday School at Rush Creek Bible Church, her home church.  Mrs. Spooner loved music and as an accomplished pianist she accompanied her children on their violins, cello, flute and trumpet and she played the piano for choirs, as well as, several churches she attended.  Teaching piano for over 50 years, she was able to even teach some of her grandchildren.  She greatly enjoyed her years in the Metropolitan Choir of Praise of Grand Rapids, MI.  Her great love for the Lord and music was passionately shared with her family and everyone she knew and met.  Her wonderful laugh was paired with an adventurous and fun spirit.  A big and loving heart, a fondness for chocolate, she loved a good cup of coffee, gardening in her flower gardens and yard, Hallmark Channel movies, a challenging game of scrabble, laughing, having fun and most of all time spent with her family.  Mrs. Spooner joins her parents, Clifford and Jeanette; brother, Clifford Jr. “Kippy”; beloved husband, Major Arthur Leroy Spooner; precious granddaughter, Amber; and other family members in heaven. She is survived by her loving children, John of Grand Rapids, MI., Rebekah Kirkland of Layton, UT, Jim of Grand Rapids, MI., David (Sherry) of Westfield, IN., Daniel (Nancy) of Soldotna, AK., Elisabeth (Mark) Sooy of Hopkins, MI., Ruth (Scott) Merriner of Anchorage, AK.;   25 adoring grandchildren; 24 joyous great-grandchildren and one due in December; nieces and nephews; other family members and loved ones all of whom she loved and touched deeply.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St. SW, Byron Center.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Grace Christian University, 1011 Aldon Ave. S.W., Wyoming, MI, 49509 or Project Renewal – Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St. S.W., Byron Center, MI, 49315.

Dear family: Your mom was such a talented, loving person. We sang in the Met's Choir together and she and I did some programs together at Nursing Homes. What a celebration for her to see her Lord and Savior "Face to Face". My prayers and sincere sympathy. Mary Mc Alary
