Christie Henning (Haley) Heine received her invitation into the mansions of Heaven at quarter past three on the morning of Tuesday, December 11th, 2018 at Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan, aged 47 (and considerable change), after a brief fight with pancreatic cancer.
Christie was born on January 10th, 1971 in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and raised in Levittown, Pennsylvania, graduating from Harry S. Truman High School in 1989.  She married Kevin Rex Heine on September 17th, 2010, the couple then settling in Kentwood, Michigan.
A daughter of the American Revolution and the American Confederacy, Christie was an accomplished genealogist, and a gifted chef and baker, with a great love for children.  Other than her personal salvation, she considered as her greatest gift from God the daughter that five different doctors had told her she would never conceive, let alone deliver.  Her gratitude for her Savior was expressed through her active service within Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, in Wyoming, Michigan.  She was also an activist and donor with the Kent County Republican Committee – her name is on the donor plaque at the current Kent GOP Headquarters – and well known within the network of Kent County veterans organizations.
Christie had signed up with the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.  Consistent with her wishes, her eyes have been harvested by the Michigan Eye Bank, so that another may see.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert, and her husband’s parents, Garwood & Florence Heine.  She is survived by her husband: Kevin; her daughter: Kristin; three step-children: Charles, Jennifer (Logan Bussell), and Nathan; her parents: Harry & Diana Haley; her brother: Harry II; two grandchildren; two particularly close nieces, Krystal and Hope Haley; and many additional colleagues, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be observed on the afternoon of Saturday, December 15th, at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4201 Burlingame Ave. SW, Wyoming, Michigan, beginning at 2:00 p.m. (the family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 p.m.).  A visitation will be hosted on Friday at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Ave., Wyoming, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Holy Trinity will be live streaming the funeral service (http://bit.ly/christieheine) for those who are unable to attend.  Her family has requested that those desiring to leave a memorial, please consider donating to the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran School Tuition Assistance Fund in her name.

It was a chance meeting on Mackinac Island in 2011 that led to me connecting with Christie & Kevin. Kristin was just a little one. Since then, I've come to know this family so much more. I was honored to have them at my wedding in 2017 and to see them again at the last State Convention. Christie will be deeply missed! My prayers go out to Kevin, Kristin, & the rest of the family.

There are some who question the reality of a "selfless act." They argue that if we feel good about it, it isn't really selfless. But Christie's actions were not about making her feel good. She was motivated by a love for people. That is proven by the fact that she continued to do good even if she didn't get so much as a "Thank you" for it. God be praised for this "1st Resurrection" (Rev 20:5). Just wait until we see her in the glory of the 2nd Resurrection!

To my Aunt TT, There aren't enough word to express how much you have touched so many people. How you have connected so many with your smile and charisma. How you are the glue to many people broken hearts. But because of you in our lives we may see the light. We may be blessed to live and do you proud by honoring you in the way you lived. That in its self is to shine and let others shine. I shall miss your sparkle, love, and laugh I shall see you again my sweet beloved aunt. I promise to hug you so tight that our heavenly father will feel it. Bless you Aunt TT. Xoxoxoxo

I've known Christie since the 5th grade. She was a very sweet person. I'm really going to miss all her posts and her daughter is a spitting image of her I remember running into her one time and her and telling me that she was never going to be able to have children well she overcame that you had a beautiful daughter just like her. I'm sorry she's gone but not in any more pain. May she 4-ever rest in peace. Amen.
