WISE (CHRUSCIEL) - Veronica Ann "Vern" Wise (Chrusciel), aged 81 of Kentwood, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 after a short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick P. (Fritz) and her daughter, Mary Johnson. Surviving are her children, Ben (Connie) Wise of Lehigh Acres, FL, Bob (Dawn) Wise of Byron Center, Marge (Marty) Nemec of East Jordon, MI; son-in-law, Danny Johnson of Orlando, FL; ten grandchildren, Christine Wise, Homer Black, Rachel and Ryan Wise, Martin, Willson, Mikel, Lilly, Alaina and Damian Nemec; three great-grandchildren, Sage Wise, Madison and Elliott Black; her brother, Andrew Chrusciel; sisters, Sister Mariella Chrusciel CSSF, Sister Irene Chrusciel OP. Sister Cecilia Chrusciel CSSF; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Josephine Chrusciel, Dorothy Chrusciel, Kenneth (Deloris) Wise, Donna Briggs, Mildred (Erwin) Bylsma; many nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Veronica strived to help, support, set a good example and be a positive mentor to the family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time tending her flower gardens, however; perhaps an even greater joy was in teaching and playing cards with her grandchildren. Mrs. Wise was employed by the Grand Rapids Police Department for many years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Monday, August 1, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1871 136th Ave, Dorr, MI 49323 with Fr. Dennis Morrow presiding. Interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 1870 136th Ave Dorr. Relatives and friends may meet with the family 2-4 & 7-9pm on Sunday, July 31 at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
