Wierenga, Henrietta

Henrietta Wierenga, age 99, of Grandville, went home to be with her Lord on Monday afternoon, January 2, 2012, eleven days before her 100th birthday.  She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Martin Wierenga; sons, Melvin Wierenga and Robert Wierenga; and son-in-law, Neal Johnson.  Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Johnson; 9 grandchildren, Sally King, Duane Johnson, Gary Johnson, Sheryl Brunsink, Brenda Doorn, Jackie Haan, Sheri Vanden Berg, Sandi Jonker, Mike Wierenga, and their spouses; daughters-in-law, Jessie Wierenga, Roberta Wierenga; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren on the way; nieces and nephews; and all her special friends at Rose Garden.  “Nanny” was a woman of faith who will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family.  Henrietta was a member of Eighth Reformed Church for many years.    Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Friday at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr., with Rev. Howard Davis officiating.  Interment Grandville Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 4:30-7:30 pm at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Eighth Reformed Church, Rose Garden Homes, or Faith Hospice.  The family would like to thank the staff at Rose Garden Homes and Faith Hospice for the wonderful care and kindness provided to Henrietta.

Henrietta and I always had fun at bingo time at Rose Garden. She always kept an eye on me to make sure I was calling the right numbers and if I didn't she corrected me. My prayers and thoughts are with her family.
