Warner, Erma

WARNER (ERMA) - It is the end of an era…a legend is gone. When St. Peter got to work this morning, Erma was already there, opening the pearly gates, arranging the files and getting everyone organized.  Erma Warner, aged 86 of Caledonia went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 3, 2012. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Archie; son, Bob; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Ruby Harder; and brother-in-law, Ken Warner. She will be sadly missed by her children, Linda (David) Rodger, Archie (Kathy) Warner; grandchildren, Christy (Greg) Huizen, Kelly (Gene) LaCroix, Jonci (Kevin) Slosser, Archie John (KaiteLyn) Warner; great-grandchildren, Mitchel and Nikolas Huizen, Brayden and Justin LaCroix, Mya and Max Slosser; sisters, Maxine Warner and Ray Dawson; sister-in-law, Ellen Warner; many nieces and nephews and untold numbers of friends and customers. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.  Erma Ione Warner was born May 20, 1925 to Henry and Myrtle Mae Harder. She graduated from Godwin Heights as valedictorian and a National Honor Society member.  She married Archie Harold Warner on March 3, 1945. She helped found Harder and Warner Nursery and was instrumental in the operational activities, working in the office with her family every day until the day she died.  A private family celebration will be held at a later date.  The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Frederick Meijer Gardens.

Erma Warner Private family services
Dear Archie, Cathy, and family... So sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. When my mom told me this morning I immediately remembered how our families often ran parallel paths growing up... and what a cheerful and lovely woman your mom was. I'm sure
there's a warm welcome party going on in heaven tonight. My thoughts are with you all.

I only recently 'met' Erma by phone, as a valued customer of AAA Turf where I am a new office manager. Just in talking with her, I wished I could meet her in person, she just seemed like a good and special person. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.
I know she will be greatly mourned and missed. I'm happy I will be able to meet her, in person one day, in eternity. 86 years is a good, long life, but all of our lives together are nothing compared to forever. There is always joy in eternity. Please accept
our heartfelf condolences from Tom Miedema, myself and all of us at AAA Turf Farms.

Erma was a delight to work with. I remember the first time she placed an order with us . She had very definite ideas of what she wanted, including what times she would accept delivery. Later she was always the first customer to place an order for the following
year. "Wow, this woman is really organized!" What a surprise to find out she was twice as old as she seemed! She was a role model for all the women in the nursery industry. We will miss her. My heartfelt condolences to all of you

It with sadness that I think of the loss this great lady will make in the life of my friends at Harder and Warner. Such a pleasant person, always helpful and supportive of me and my enterprise, undoubtedly the glue that held everybody and everything together
at 6464 Broadmoor SE. My solace is knowing she certainly led by example and after showing such dedication she can now rest, confident that others will continue her tradition of excellence. May God bless you all in this difficult time.

I always looked forward to visiting with Mrs. Warner anytime I was at the nursery. Her kind and gentle way with people was so refreshing, as was her love of plants and landscaping. She will be missed. Please accept my condolences.

Dear Archie & Linda, I was very sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. In my heart she was truly my first boss and she taught me the values of hard work and attention to detail. I learned first hand from her how to wash a window and until this
day still think fondly of her inspiration and instruction. Your parents always made me feel very appreciated which was very important to a young lad learning the ropes. On this day I honor her for all she held true.
