VANDE GUCHTE – Robert J. Vande Guchte, aged 88 of Grand Rapids went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. He joins his wife, Dorothy who passed away six months ago; his son-in-law, Lambert Veldstra, brother, Bernard Vande Guchte; and brother-in-law, Dick DeBlaey. He is survived by his children, Jane (Butch) Visser of Ada, Jacque Ohanesian of Comstock Park, Mary Knoester of Holland, Martha Veldstra of CA, Rob (Wilma) Vande Guchte of Grand Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Connie DeBlaey, Chris (Janet) Vande Guchte, Howard (Ginny) Vande Guchte, Judy (Jack) Knosher. Robert proudly served in the US Army during WW II and graduated from Calvin College. He was a retired builder and educator. The family will receive relatives and friends at Raybrook Manor Chapel, 2121 Raybrook SE Friday from 2-3 pm and funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. J. George Aupperlee officiating. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grand Rapids Christian Schools or Howardsville Christian School.
