Thaler, Celia Johanna

THALER – Celia Thaler, aged 63 of Kentwood passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 4, 2011 after an eight month battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hank and Alie Pennock; sister, Theresa Pennock. She is survived by her husband, Bill of 16 years; her daughter, Lori (Thomas) Dann; step-daughter, Kelly (Elliott) Cowling; grandchildren, Hailey, Kaitlyn, Charles, William; Betty Shimmell and the Shimmell family; sister, Loretta Sammon;  sisters-in-law, Shirley Marchini, Margaret Thaler; brother-in-law, Dale (Karla) Thaler; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Celia enjoyed spending time with her many good friends. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo SE with Rev. Don Van Slyke officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home Thursday 6-8 pm and Friday one hour prior to the service.  The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Hospice of Michigan or the American Cancer Society.
