Teets, Marilyn Dawn

Marilyn Dawn Teets, age 80, lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011.  Marilyn was born on February 15, 1931 to George and Ida Benham and was one of 11 children.  She is survived by her 3 daughters, Patricia and Harold Larison, Pamela Laarman, Penny and Daniel Folsom; and one son, Donald and Sherri Teets; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by 2 sisters, Vonda and James Spica, Beverly Lohman; and two brothers, George and Maelynn Benham, James Benham.  Marilyn had many nieces and nephews and their families with whom she enjoyed yearly family reunions.  Her close friends kept her active and spent time at the casinos, dollar stores and out to eat.  Marilyn started her working career at the age of 12 bagging groceries at D’Amico’s.  She continued working on and off throughout the years in sales and as a cashier.  She officially retired in 1996.  Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family.  Holiday gatherings were a highlight, as well as time spent at Pam and Penny’s places on the lake.  Cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan (989 Spaulding SE, Ada, 49301) who helped the family through Marilyn’s final days.  A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held in early October.

Marilyn Teets October 2011
Dear Patsy, Pam, Penny and Don, My sister and I were so very sorry to learn of your mother's passing. We have fond memories of your mother's kindness, warmth, sense of fun, and wonderful laugh. She was a great friend to our mother, Evelyn, who always enjoyed
the visits so very much! We send our deepest sympathies,
Lynette Gillis & Cathy (Gillis) Ryzy
I'm very glad that our mom's reconnected later in their lives and spent so much time together. Their many trips out and about also gave me a chance to see her, talk to her and laugh with her many times over the past ten years. She was a very special lady
and will be missed by many including both my mom and I.
Brenda (Mercer) Wiersma
Dear Pam...my deepest sympathy in the loss of your mom. I remember her a little from when I stayed over-night one-time when you lived above the book store, and she was very kind. I also cherish the memories of us in highschool!
