TAKKINEN-Arthur Takkinen, aged 82 of Wyoming, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna; children, Vicki and Kim Briggs, Janice and John Takkinen-Kleckner; 7 grandchildren, Holly Sharp, Carrie and Rick Cornelisse, Ashley and Ryan Newberry, Whitney Sharp, Courtney Briggs, Michael Kleckner, Shelly Kleckner; his two cats, Joey and Boots. Arthur retired from GM after 34 years of service. He enjoyed taking walks, polka music and was an avid bowler. Funeral services will be held 11am Friday at Wesley Park United Methodist Church, 1150 32nd St SW with Rev. Dean Prentiss and Rev. Gordon Spalenka officiating. Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Just read Wednesday's obits today.Wish I would've known yesterday.I would've gone to Art's services. Donna, I remember you and Art at almost all of our local 730 meetings. U did not miss many of them. Art showed me the ropes of being a Hi-Lo Driver at
GM. He was such a good man to work with. I am lucky to have known both of you. I'll look you up Donna so I can personally give you my condolences.

Many of us classmates of Donna's knew Art mostly through our class reunions and other get-togethers through many long and treasured years. They were very loyal to these gatherings, Art was always pleasant and friendly, we were glad he was part of us and
