Shoemaker, Eugene

SHOEMAKER:  Eugene “Gene” L. Shoemaker, age 87, of Grandville, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Carol; daughters Linda Karell, Sherry Ward and Jerry McDermott, Sue and Craig Howe; grandchildren Stephani and Steve Czadzeck, Ryan and Brenda Karell, Lindsay and Eric Koopmans, Allison Karell, Scot and Jenny Latimer, Steve and Amanda Latimer, Krisi Stolk, Shelli Howe and fiancé John Schwing, Kevin and Erin Howe; 19 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Jean; son-in-law Robert Karell.  Gene proudly served our country during WWII as a member of the US Marine Corps.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive. Graveside service with military honors will be held at Grandville Cemetery.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to American Lung Association. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Craig and Sue, So sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I remember alot of good times and yours folks house and your Dad was always part of that fun. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Take care.
