Sheets, Carol Susan

God’s humble servant, Carol Susan Sheets, aged 69, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 15, 2013 in Punta Gorda, Florida. Carol was born to Albert and Geneva Dykstra on January 11, 1944. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Alan; sons, Andrew (Nida), Albert John, Tedd (Jennifer) Sheets; daughters, Susan (Shadrack) Odo, Sheryl (Jerrel) Adams; foster daughter, Ruth (Tyson) Frasur; 21 grandchildren and one on the way; one great-grandchild; sisters, Kathy (Don) Dykstra, Evelyn (John) Sheets; uncle, Harold Grifhorst; many cousins and multitudes of friends. Carol loved the Lord Jesus Christ and trusted Him as her Savior at a young age. She claimed the verse Joshua 1:9b “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” This verse helped Carol throughout her life as she served her Lord by serving her family, church, city of Wyoming, MI and community of Punta Gorda, FL. Funeral services for Carol will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Good News Baptist Church, 6830 Eastern Ave SE, Grand Rapids with Pastor Brian Cederquist officiating. Interment Algoma Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Drive, Grandville on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Network of Wyoming.

I will always remember Carol's beautiful laughter at our big DeVries family gatherings. She just lit the place up with her true happiness.

I'm sure all the DeVrieses are having a wonderful reunion with her in heaven. Peace and comfort to those missing her here.

My heart goes out to all of you. I have known Carol since I was 17 years old. When she would come in Springrove Variety(formerly Suburban 5&10) she would always search me out to give me a hug and see how things were going. She will be greatly missed by all of us at the store and countless others. God Bless.

To Alan and family, I had the privilege of hiring Carol to work with me at Grand Valley Int. Medicine years ago before she even had thoughts of becoming Wyomings Mayor. She was a wonderful person--always wanting to please and help in any way she could. She talked of her family all the time---through good and bad she always looked to God for his guidance. Alan you were the love of her life - I know how much you will miss her companionship. It was difficult for me to write this as I know it means she is really gone---but I know she is in heaven with our Lord and will be organizing things up there and taking care of anyone who asks. She will surely be missed.

I had the honor of being Carol's niece, she was a big part of my daily life. As I try to wrap my heart and head around a world where Aunt Carol is not it in, I will cherish the memories. Prayers to all of us who loved her.
