Schimmel, Grace

Schimmel:  Grace (Kamps) Schimmel, of Grand Rapids.  God, in His infinite wisdom and love, finished His work of preparing Grace for her place in His crown of Glory.  She was taken to her heavenly home at the age of 84, on Wednesday morning, July 27, 2011.  Surviving are her faithful and loving husband of 61 years, Gilbert; her children, Jim and Carol Schimmel, Dan and Judy Schimmel, Hank and Deb VanderWaal, Ruth Schimmel, Dave and Shelly Schimmel, Tim and Yvonne Schimmel, Tom and Beth Schimmel; 31 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren.  Grace was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.  Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, Marge Kamps, Marge Mollema, Arlene Kamps, Grace Kamps, John and Myra Kamps, Louis and Esther Kamps, Marvin and Nancy Kamps, Leon and June Kamps, Gert Schimmel, Jean Kuiper, Dora Bruxvoort; many nieces and nephews.  A private graveside service will be held Saturday at Riverbend Cemetery.  A Memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 am at Grace Protestant Reformed Church, 11225 8th Ave. NW, Grand Rapids with Rev. Ron VanOverloop officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm AT THE CHURCH.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Covenant Christian High School.

Grace was a very dear friend to me. I sat next to her and Gib for many years in church just to make sure all was well. I am going to miss her so very much.
