Ritsema, James

RITSEMA:  James Richard Ritsema, age 93, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Jim was employed as a manager of the hardware department at W.J. Dykstra Company for 25 years.  He served as a deacon and elder at 12th St. CRC. He was also a manager at the former Mission Industrial Store.  He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, James E., Kyle A., and Teressa; 2 brothers; 5 sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jane; children, James (Esther) Ritsema, Gordon (Drynda) Ritsema, Robert (Cheryl) Ritsema, John (Cindy) Ritsema, Calvin (Ruth) Ritsema; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Ritsema; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norm Holtrop, Lillian Ritsema, Julia (Frank) Nyholt, Richard (Donna) Natte; previous daughters-in-law, Kathy and Karen; many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr., with Rev. Dale Fopma, Rev. Robert Ritsema and Rev. John Ritsema officiating.  Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to CRWRC or the James E. Ritsema Missionary Scholarship at Kuyper College. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.

We express our deepest sympathy to the uncle Jim's family and loved ones. He was an inspiring example to family, church members and associates including those of us who worked with him at Dykstra company. He clearly had a heart for the Lord's work.
