Quick, Doris Jean

QUICK, Doris Jean: April 12, 1925-June 4, 2011, age 86, of Grand Rapids, MI, formerly of Traverse City, MI, died peacefully with her family by her side. Her loving husband, Charles Arthur Quick, preceded her in death. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Susan (Alan) Schneider, Chad (Leone) Quick, K.J. Quick, and Jana Quick, as well as eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Doris was born in Grand Rapids on April 12, 1925. She grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from Creston High School. Her life-long passion was music. She was a member of the Elgin Choral Union, and Lyric Opera in the Chicago area. As an Air Force wife she shared her love of music as a church choir director wherever they lived. In 1984 she and her husband fulfilled another life-long dream of building their retirement home in on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, MI. When talking about Traverse City, her favorite saying was, “It’s where heaven is a local call.” She loved to cook, shop, travel and spend time with her family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, June 6, 2011 at 3:00 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1213 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kent County Humane Society. Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com.

Susan, Chad, and KJ: Nadine and I have known your Mom and Dad in TVC for all the things you most remember and give continued life in your own - her love and talent for great music, cookiing, travel and family relationships. The latter was special and high
on the list . We were fortunate recipients from both Bud and Doris - good people!

Sue, I just heard about the passing of your mother. I want to offer my condolences. She was an absolutely amazing woman! I enjoyed caring for her while I was an employee at Crystal Springs. she became like family. She will deeply missed. It breaks my heart
to hear she is no longer with us sharing her bright smile, quirky and fun jokes, and memories of hers; but she is in a better place now. she is finally home with the Lord and with your dad :) you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely,
Ashley Stedman
