Meyers, Robert

Mr. Robert Meyers, age 68, of Hudsonville, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Lacks Cancer Center from complications arising from a brief courageous battle with lung cancer.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfurd and Jeanette Meyers and brothers, James, Harvard, and Alvin Meyers.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Elaine; children, Rhonda (Robert) Kamstra, Terri (Gary) Postema, Shari (Ken) Nelson, Steve (Julie) Meyers, Chad (Stefanie) Meyers; grandchildren, Austin Church, Zachary and Mitchell Nelson, Caroline, Grace and Lauren Postema, Mikaela and Ashlan Meyers; brother, Paul (Barb) Meyers; sisters, Mary (Perk) Hamming, Jean (Donald) Elzinga, Shirley (John) Moored; sisters-in-law, Beverly Meyers and Nancy Meyers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stan and Michelle Jager, Lee and Deb Jager, Carol Jager; mother-in-law, Kay Jager; and many nieces and nephews.  Robert was a truck driver until his retirement from USF Holland Motors in 1998.  He then worked part-time at the family business, Meyers Cleaning Service.  Robert was a member of Georgetown Christian Reformed Church where he had been involved as a youth leader, a lay leader, and a member of the choir.  He enjoyed coffee time with his buddies and golfing with Elaine, family members, and many friends.  Robert also loved to travel with Elaine anywhere that had nice golf courses and was warm.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church (6475 40th Avenue, Hudsonville) with Pastor Marc Nelesen and Pastor Jack Dik officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive and Monday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Christian High School Foundation or Faith Hospice.  Condolences may be sent on-line at www.mkdfuneralhome.com or carepages.com:robertmeyers.
