MASTBERGEN – Gerald Mastbergen, aged 76 of Kentwood went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mastbergen; parents, John and Jacoba Mastbergen; brother, Parnell Mastbergen. He is survived by his children, Dwayne Mastbergen, Dave and Patti Bartholomew and Cherri Mastbergen; grandchildren, Megan and Christopher; sisters and brothers, Gertrude Kooiman, Adriana (John) VanDyke, Geraldine Ruis, Marvin (Melva) Mastbergen; two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Gerald worked in construction and was with Heyboer and Bolt for 32 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday at 3 pm at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo SE. Interment in Kent Memorial Gardens. Members of the family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice, Elmcroft of Kentwood and Debra Mesery for the wonderful care and support given to their father. The family requests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society and Make a Wish Foundation.
