GILBERT: Edward Joseph Gilbert (Born Golembiewski), age 89, passed away on June 9, 2011, at Metron of Forest Hills. Edward served in the Army during World War II as a Sergeant, Technician 4th grade, 7th Engineer Battalion, and worked at Applied Arts Company as a maintenance man until his retirement. Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.Edward is survived by two children: Dr. & Mrs. Daniel E. (Sue) Gilbert of Westminister MD, and Mr. & Mrs. Jack (Darlene) Byrne of Gulf Breeze FL; eleven grandchildren: Mr. & Mrs. Steve (Roberta) Van Harn, Ms. Victoria Kirchner, Mr. & Mrs. John (Cindy) Gilbert, Mr. & Mrs. Paul (Rebecca) Shinol, Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie (Sara) Jersild, Ms. Rachel Jenkins, Mr. & Mrs. Aaron (Danni) Gilbert, David Gilbert, Adam Gilbert, Mr. & Mrs. Jack J. (Rema) Byrne and Merrie Byrne Crisman; and 17 great grandchildren-Paul , Cole, Kristen, Justyn , Zachery, Scott, Jordynn, Joshua, Leah, Megan, Jacob, Kaylla, Alexis, Caleb, Elijah, Christopher, and Jessica; three great great grandchildren, Serenity Rose, Hallie Mae, and Alexa Grace. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years-Bernerdine (Barscewski) Gilbert; his parents-John and Anna Golembiewski who were born in Poland; his brothers-Anthony and Jerome Golembiewski, and one grandchild, Joseph Gilbert.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the charity of your choice.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Resurrection Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming.MI.
