G David Korsen

G. David Korsen, age 57, of Caledonia, finished his work here and went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.  As the founding pastor of Morning Star Church, an Evangelical Covenant Community, he will be greatly missed.  David was an enthusiastic, caring, sensitive, and loyal husband, friend and pastor.  David received his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and went on to serve churches in California, Washington and Michigan.  He began Fourth Corner Community Church in Bellingham, Washington in 1991, serving for 14 years.  David also served other pastors through Pastor Care and Ministry to Ministers.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Betty Korsen.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Joanie M. Korsen. The Memorial Service will be held Saturday 2 pm at Morning Star Church, 640 Arlington Ct., Middleville, with Rev. Dr. Gilbert Bilezikian and Rev. Dr. John Smith officiating. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the needs of the family.

My deepest sympathies on your loss. I got to know Dave as part of the classis for quite a few years, and have many good memories of our pastor retreats, story telling, joking around, and kingdom driven conversations. i'll certainly keep you and your family in my prayers.

I am so very deeply sorry for your loss and will continue to be thinking of you in the coming days. I keep thinking back to when you both were standing with us gals at Mother's side, singing hymns. I know she heard them and appreciated them. Now Dave and she can sing them again together, in Heaven. She only heard Pastor Dave preach one Easter service a few years ago but she commented for a long time on how wonderful he was. You guys are awesome! If there's ANYTHING that you need - at any time, please give me a call. I'm sorry that I cannot attend the service on Sat., as I will be out of town. Just know that I will be thinking of you though!

I recall so clearly the evening we first met you and Dave - First Reformed co-ed slowpitch at Bender Fields - you were the new Assoc. Pastor couple! From that evening on, we shared a lot of ministry and 'life' together, and we thank God for every step we took with the two of you over the years. Your and Dave's life has had an eternal impact on so many in Whatcom County (and beyond). Know that much love and prayers comes from WA to you!

Dear Cousin Joanie,

We were both shocked to hear from Mary the other day of David's passing. We are very sorry for your loss, and will keep you in our prayers.

These are the times when our faith and trust in God and Jesus Christ will carry us through. I find comfort in the story of the one criminal who was crucified along with Jesus who said "Jesus, remember me when you enter into your kingdom." Christ did not spare the criminal from death, but told him "today you will be with me in paradise." I hope those words help you find courage and peace as you deal with this trying time..

What a shock to hear about Dave. He was a good man and I learned a lot from working with him. You have my deepest sympathy and can be assured that you will be in our prayers. May God bless you with his comfort, peace and strength at this time of your great loss.

It's been a long time since we were both at First Reformed, but spiritual connections last a lifetime.

Thinking of you, and now that you're about a month down the road from Dave's death and everyone has gone back to their own lives, just wanted to pop in and say you're not forgotten.

God will heal your heart, I know that from personal experience.

Blessings to you in the days ahead.

God is close to the broken-hearted and He will carry you through.

Hugs and prayers,
Barb (Knudsen) Hollace
