Elders, Albertha
ELDERS: Albertha Elders (Schut), age 89, of Grandville, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 27, 2011. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family. As a charter member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church, she had a love for her church and her Lord and served in many ways. She also volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for 28 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Lewis; their children, Sally and Don Poortenga of Dyer, IN, Larry and Dawn Elders of Escondido, CA, Tom and Sharon Elders of Grandville; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Grace Pals, Jane and John Arens, Nelson and Linda Schut, Harriet and Arthur Laninga, Marcia Caudle; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Lucille Elders, Gerald Scholma, Millie Schut, Ella Jane Newenhouse, Arlene Schut; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gertrude Kremers, Effie VerWys, Jeanette Scholma, Gerrit Schut, Christine Newenhouse, Bentley Schut. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, O-60 Port Sheldon, Grandville, with Rev. Gerry Koning officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive and also Saturday from 12-12:45 pm prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Christian Reformed Church CARE Fund or Bethshan Association in honor of Albertha’s granddaughter.
